"Sun Loong" the Imperial Dragon ...

Sun Loong the Imperial Dragon

Sun Loong rests in the Golden Dragon Museum in Bendigo for most of the year. Every Easter he is awakened and comes out to dance in the streets of Bendigo as part of the Easter Fair procession amidst much noise, fireworks and festivity.

Sun Loong is the world's longest imperial dragon (at just over 100m) and was presented as a gift to Bendigo's Chinese community in 1977 in order to retire Loong - the world's oldest imperial dragon. Loong now rests permanantly in the next room to Sun Loong.

Both dragons may be viewed by the public at the Museum along with the world's finest display of Chinese processional regalia and artifacts, collected by the Bendigo Chinese Association, about Bendigo's Chinese community, their dragons and their history, from the goldrush of the 1850s to the present day.

Also featured are the Classical Chinese Gardens and the Guan Yin Temple. These are located directly across Bridge Street from the Golden Dragon Museum.
