From the Pastor: The Ascension III
In this strife-torn world we know well the role and value of a mediator. In the
Arab-Israeli conflict, for example, there have been several over the years,
whether from the U.S., Norway, or France. Likewise, in industrial disputes a
mediator plays a crucial role. Also, in interpersonal relationships a mediator
can often be of considerable help.
Herein lies the importance of the Ascension, since our Redeemer went to be our
Intercessor and Mediator before the Father. There He continues His work of
redemption, not in the way of further accomplishment, but simply the
presentation of that accomplishment on behalf of every saved sinner. Unlike the
many mediators in international or industrial disputes, there is at this level
only one mediator, who is adequate for every contingency (1 Timothy 2:5).
Are you weighed down with: guilt? griefs? worries? relationship difficulties?
spiritual perplexities? Remember that Christ is your Intercessor, as an old
hymn puts it:
He bends on earth a brother's eye; Partaker of the human name, He knows the frailty of our frame.
